Aristocrat Leisure Limited, famous Aussie pokie maker is enjoying growth of half-year profit by a major amount, mostly owing to interest in its games in foreign shores, notably the USA. Aristocrat made nearly $249.6 million in profit post tax deduction in the first half of fiscal year ending on March 31. It was above expectation and 56.9 percent higher than the same period in 2016.
In the USA, unit sales led to revenue of almost $100 million. This added to the earning of the company, beyond doubt. Revenue from the Class III machines shot up by a staggering 167 percent. This was caused mostly by the Aristocrats’ Lightening slot lineup and a “fee-per-day” arrangement made with the casino operators.
The pokie maker is jubilant over this growth. It said that in the near future, it expects to get a full year net profit post tax deduction and amortization of acquired intangibles. It expects improvement of 20-30 percent. Trevor Croker, the MD and chief executive of Aristocrat Leisure said while discussing the results, the company is going to increase investment in design and development.
He added that the robust balance sheet of Aristocrat Leisure Limited will let it enhance debt ratios along with substantial liquidity position. This will eventually enable the brand to invest while keeping focus on shareholders’ interests and core strategies. Along with positive performances of the live gaming assets, online revenue of Aristocrat was up by a margin of 36 percent to the amount of $178 million. The only drawback was a little dip in gaming revenue in Australia and New Zealand.
The drop in local pokie activity led to decline in Aristocrat’s slip in revenue. The earning was $211 million. The data published in November 2016 by Consumer and Business Services reveal pokie spend in 2015-2016 was a whopping $719 million. In 2006-2007 it was approx $793 million. In recent times, decline in pokie has been seen in Ceduna. The town in South Australia has witnessed poker machine revenue decline by $100,000. It was reported by The Advertiser.
However, the Aristocrat decline in local revenue is not much of a headache since international revenues both in Asia and the USA are exceeding expectation.
